Liverpool weather as Met Office forecasts hottest day of the year this week

Over the past month, Liverpool has enjoyed glorious weather that saw locals soak up the sunshine in parks and beaches.

But the past week saw a turn for the worse as multiple thunderstorms hit the region.

Areas of Liverpool overwhelmed by water, as people reported seeing rain come into their houses.

Garston was hit badly by flooding, while other areas also got the brunt of the torrential rain.

However, its time to get out your parasols, swimming trunks and sun cream once again as the hot weather is back.

Today (June 22), it will be breezy with sunny spells to start, during the day it will turn cloudier from the west, but will still feel warm with a maximum temperature of 21 °C expected.

Tuesday will be a scorcher despite starting cloudy as sunny spells become widespread through the afternoon. Temperatures will climb in Liverpool to 25 °C.

Wednesday is a similar story, as the dry and sunny weather continues with 25 °C heat remaining.

But Thursday will be the hottest day of the year so far in Liverpool, as temperatures rocket to at least 26 °C.

Met Office's deputy chief meteorologist, Martin Young, said: "By the middle of [this] week we’ll see temperatures across much of England and Wales widely climbing into the mid to high twenties Celsius and it will probably be hot in parts of southern and eastern England, as temperatures peak close to 30 Celsius."
