The Easter bank holiday weekend saw scores of people in Wales soaking up the sunshine, and while this weekend will also be balmy, with highs of 18°C, we should also expect cloudy skies and some April showers, says the Met Office. It predicts Saturday, April 23, will be "mostly cloudy with showers through the morning into the early afternoon", with the "odd heavier shower" possible for a time, especially in the south. The day will also remain "quite windy".
The forecast for Sunday through to Tuesday reads: "Breezy again on Sunday, but winds falling lighter into next week. Barring the odd light shower, a lot dry of weather is expected, but turning a bit cooler." For Cardiff, the weather service predicts that Saturday will be cloudy, with some sunny intervals by the early evening, with highs of 16°C.
Meanwhile Swansea will also have a cloudy start, then light showers in the afternoon, but highs of 16°C are expected. Wrexham will be slightly cooler, with temperatures reaching 15°C, but its cloudy start to the day will change to sunny spells from around 3pm, with bright sunshine expected for a couple of hours in the evening. The BBC forecast for Wales predicts highs of 14°C for Saturday, with "light cloud and a fresh breeze". It too says there will be a cloudy start to the day, with the sun expected to finally appear intermittently from around 4pm. It predicts temperatures will drop slightly from Sunday to Tuesday, but on Sunday and Monday it says we can look forward sunny spells throughout the day.
In a tweet, BBC Wales weatherman Derek Brockway said: "A brisk and nagging E-NE [east-northeast] wind tomorrow [Saturday]! Less windy on Sunday but still breezy and dry with sunny spells. Feeling warm out of the wind and in the sunshine with high levels of tree pollen. Plenty more dry weather next week with lighter winds. No sign of any significant rain!"
