Met Office forecasts bad weather for Bristol on Sunday with storms due to hit

If you've got plans to meet friends out and about in Bristol's parks on Sunday, you might want to avoid doing so at lunch time.

That's because the Met Office is forecasting thunderstorms to hit the city at around 1pm.

Overall Sunday, June 14 is due to be a dry day - with sunny intervals from 7am to 10am before cloud comes in by late morning.

Then by noon, the Met Office is predicting a 60 per cent chance of rain before storms hit at around 1pm.

The storm is not due to last long, with dry weather returning at around 4pm before clear skies from 8pm.

The Met Office says: "A cloudy start with the odd shower in places. Into the afternoon, sunny spells will develop widely as well as a scattering of showers, these may turn heavy with thunder. Maximum temperature 22 °C."

Pollen warning

There's yet more bad news for hayfever sufferers, as the Met Office is warning of "very high" pollen levels in Bristol all day on Sunday.

There could be more thundery showers as the week goes on, too, with the Met Office's outlook for Monday to Wednesday saying: "The next few days will see showers, these often heavy with the risk of thunder at times, interspersed with drier and sunny spells. Light winds and warm in any sunshine."
