Met Office forecast shows more snow on the way for Wales

Following a wintry spell earlier this week which scattered snow across parts of Wales, forecasters said more is on the way.

As icy temperatures continue to grip the country, the Met Office predicts that parts of Wales could see snow again before the month is over.

And it could arrive as early as next week.

The Met Office is predicting that heavy rain will spread eastwards across Wales and parts of southern and central England starting on Tuesday.

But as we inch towards the end of the week, prolonged rain is likely across western Wales as well as strong winds, coastal gales and hill snow.

People should also anticipate the risk of frost and fog, which could cause some travel disruption, particularly in the early hours of the morning.

But if the chances for snow are thwarted by milder air next week, wintry showers could have another chance to materialise at the start of December.

Early predictions hint that the southern half of the UK could become more settled, but the west and northwest are expected to be battered by wind and rain.

Over high ground, these showers could also become wintry, according to the Met Office.

Cold air, however, will take a back seat.

"Temperatures are expected to be around average, or just above, for the time of year," it said.
