Met Office forecast sees temperatures set to hit the 20s in Wales this week

It could be 21C in Wales by the middle of the week.

While Scotland is set to see the highest temperatures in the UK this week, it is good news for here too.

Welsh forecaster Derek Brockway says: "In Wales, 21C in Hawarden on Wednesday. 20 in Cardiff."

But he did add that it will be cooler by Saturday.

The next three days will be hot and dry across the whole of the country, according to the Met Office.

It is a big difference to last week when temperatures dipped to a cool 12C, as rain, thunderstorms and even hail battered large parts of the country.

For Monday, the Met Office forecast says: "A ridge of high pressure will bring another settled day across Wales with plenty of fine, dry and sunny weather, after a chilly start for some.

"It will feel warm in the sunshine with light winds. Maximum temperature 19C."

For Tuesday, the forecast is another warm and sunny day, with good spells of sunshine and a maximum temperature of 21C.

The outlook for Wednesday to Friday is: "Dry with warm, hazy sunshine on Wednesday. Staying dry on Thursday, with sunny spells and temperatures nearer normal.

"Likely a cloudier, windier day on Friday, with spells of rain possible."
