Met Office forecast on hottest day of the year so far - exactly how hot it will be

If you thought it was hot yesterday, stand by - today is going to be EVEN hotter.

Yesterday saw temperatures soar into the high 20s, but today the mercury is to hit a sweltering 30c.

And it’s going to be warm from the off with temperatures hovering around 21c from 8am after a very sticky and hot night.

Temperatures will climb during the morning hitting 27c by noon, inching up to 29c by 1pm.

The afternoon will be a good time to find a shady spot with the mercury hitting 30c by 2pm - and staying that way until 6pm.

Temperatures will then start to fall into the evening, but only marginally and it’s expected that it will still be around 24c by the time many go to bed at 11pm.

So another difficult night to sleep is on the cards.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Sunday will be another fine, dry, and sunny day, with largely clear skies throughout.

“Some patchy fair-weather cloud will bubble up in the afternoon over eastern areas, bringing a risk of the odd sharp shower.

“Feeling very warm, and hot for many.”

The heatwave is expected to continue into next week.
