Met Office extends severe weather warning across Wales - here's what to expect where you live

The Met Office has extended a weather warning across a large swathe of Wales, as thunderstorms are set to rattle the country on Tuesday.

A yellow weather warning for rain will come into effect between 4am and 11pm as widespread storms ignite across the area.

The warning covers the eastern half of the country, including Swansea, Bridgend and Cardiff up to Welshpool.

Those heading out for the morning commute should plan for downpours, as the skies are set to unleash heavy rain beginning the early morning hours.

The Met Office said: "Tuesday will see often heavy showers, with the risk of hail and thunder."

As the day goes on, forecasters have warned that flooding, disruption to travel and power cuts to homes and businesses across the country are possible.

The onslaught of rain and wind is likely to mark the end of summer weather, the Met Office told WalesOnline last week.

Weekend temperatures in the mid-20s will fade to highs in the upper teens this week.

The damp weather will only add to the chill, before overnight lows dip down around 12-13°C.
