Met Office extend yellow weather warning as Glasgow battles lightning and heavy rain

A yellow weather warning for lightening across Glasgow has been extended as Scotland braces for more dangerous weather.

The alert has been issued across most of the country and will remain in place until 10pm tonight.

The Met Office are warning that frequent lightning could lead to "power outages and some structural damage", leaving communities in fear of being cut off.

As well as the danger of more flooding and lightning strikes, the Met Office say there could even be hailstones with drivers urged to be wary of the conditions.

Temperatures will remain high, however, with highs of 18 degrees predicted in Glasgow on Sunday.
