Met Office Christmas Eve weather warning as rain, hail and lightning to hit UK

The Met Office has warned Bristol is set for rain, hail and lightning this Christmas Eve.

The forecaster has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning covering Bristol, and surrounding areas in the South West and south Wales.

Some travel is likely to be impacted by the weather, the Met Office said.

The warning is in place between 5am and 1pm tomorrow (December 24).

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Heavy showers and some thunderstorms are expected to move east during Tuesday morning.

"These will contain hail, which could briefly cover roads, a risk of lightning and also squally winds with gusts of 60 mph possible."
