Snow and Ice are set to hit Liverpool over the next couple of days with the Met Office warning that some rural communities could be cut off.
Last week the Met Office issued a three day weather warning for snow and ice, lasting from Monday until Wednesday, but the warning has now been shortened to just over 24 hours from tonight until tomorrow night.
The yellow weather warning for snow and ice comes into force at 10pm tonight until just before midnight on Tuesday night.
The weather warning said: " Snow, with a risk of widespread ice, is likely to push slowly northeast during Tuesday, bringing difficult travel conditions.
"Possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers, with bus and train services potentially delayed or cancelled. Some road closures and longer journey times are possible.
"Possible delays or cancellations air travel.
"Some rural communities could become cut off.
"Power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
"A chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
"Untreated pavements and cycle paths might be impassable."
The forecast for Liverpool sees temperatures fall away into Monday night, with sleet showers and ice forecast.

Tuesday will see temperatures rise, but rain will dominate with showers expected throughout the day.
The forecast for the North West said: "Dry and chilly initially this evening, with cloud building. A front will then spread in from the west overnight, bringing spells of heavy rain, as well as some sleet and hill snow for a time.
"Still some outbreaks of heavy rain around tomorrow morning, but these should ease to give a period of drier weather and a few pockets of brightness. A risk of some heavy showers in the late afternoon.
"Rain easing again later overnight on Tuesday as clear spells develop. Wednesday will be mostly dry with some sunny spells. However, it will be breezy and there is the chance of some rain at times.
"Thursday is expected to have sunshine and variable cloud, but also a few showers moving in from the south later on. Friday looks to be mostly cloudy the odd shower."
