Met Eireann weather forecasters warn of nasty conditions for coming week

Met Eireann weather forecasters have warned of nasty, wet conditions for the coming week.

Dubliners may be experiencing the sudden drop in temperature in a return to far more seasonal weather.

Today will be a blustery day with some occasional heavy showers.

Highest temperatures of 14 or 15 degrees.

Showers will die out overnight with lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees.

Here is the forecast for the rest of the week.

Monday: "Monday morning will bring a mix of sunshine and showers, the showers will be most frequent along western coasts. Early in the afternoon, rain will extend over the southern half of the country, becoming heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.

Monday night: "Rain will persist in the east and southeast, possibly turning heavy at times, while it will become dry and mostly clear elsewhere by morning. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, with moderate to fresh north to northwest winds developing overnight.

Tuesday: "Mostly dry with sunny spells, and just the chance of isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh northwest winds.

Tuesday night: "Cold and mainly dry with clear spells and light variable breezes. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.

Wednesday: "Current indications suggest that it will be milder and largely dry with sunny spells in the east, cloudier in the west with patchy rain or drizzle at times and light to moderate southerly breezes. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.

Further Outlook: "On Thursday and Friday also look like they will continue mild or even warm at times. It will be mainly dry with some sunshine in the east, however there is a chance of some rain at times near the west coast. High pressure then looks to bring a generally settled weekend."
