Met Eireann's urgent message to sun seekers ahead of weather turn for all of Ireland

Met Eireann are urging people to make the most of today's sunny weather as it won't be around for another while.

The weather is expected to turn wetter and colder from Tuesday and at the moment there is no indication the good conditions will return.

Cloud has already engulfed much of the west this Monday afternoon but for those in the east and south - Met Eireann have a message.

The forecaster tweeted: "Today is the last day in the current spell of warm and sunny weather.

What is an African plume?

"Cloud has already increased over the NW half of the country, but if you live in Leinster or Munster take some time outside to enjoy the sunshine and warmth while it lasts.

"It will be a lot cooler later this week."

Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 4C at night later this week while Thursday could be a cold day with the mercury not passing the mid teens.

The forecaster added: "Cool and changeable for the rest of the week, with spells of rain and showers but some drier periods too."
