Met Eireann's stunning month-long forecast as one warmer than usual week pinpointed

Met Eireann have answered our prayers and are forecasting consistent high temperatures and an unusually warm week in April.

The national forecaster's monthly rundown makes for good reading with plenty of sunshine and mild conditions.

Starting off today, Friday March 19, Met Eireann has said that this coming week will feature high pressure, resulting in overall mainly dry weather.

It will be cloudy and there will be patchy spells of rain, but this is expected to be a very low occurrence, especially in southern parts of the country.

Temperatures are predicted to be higher than average up until Thursday March 25.

Heading into the second week of forecasts, rain will fall more frequently in the north and west parts of the country, with low pressure in the northwest.

High pressure will remain in the south, particularly along the coastline, but the rain will break through from time to time and fall a little over average across the country.

These will still be light sunny spells as temperatures will persist to remain higher than average.

Into week three and Met Eireann signal that the weather will begin to settle again, which will mostly be seen in the southern counties of Waterford, Cork and Wexford.

Towards the north and the west of Ireland, there will be a mixture of rain and showers, but good dry spells are expected to break through towards the end of the week, leading into the fourth week of the forecast.

From Friday April 9, it is expected that there will be “a lot of dry settled weather” across all parts of the country, with temperatures returning to the average for the time of year.

If the forecast holds up this could mean that Irish people may get to enjoy some socially distanced sun, depending on new regulations, set to be announced by the Taoiseach Micheal Martin on April 5.
