Met Eireann's stunning Ireland weather forecast - hottest days, best areas and how long it will last

the sunshine is returning to Ireland with the mercury set to reach 27 degrees over the coming days.

After a relatively dreary start to the week, the temperatures are set to rise as the weekend approaches.

As for each day, the temperatures will be at their highest on the following; Tuesday (22 degrees), Wednesday (22 degrees), Thursday (24 degrees), Friday (25 degrees), the weekend (27 degrees).

Met Eireann has said that the best weather will be in the following regions on these days; Tuesday (east and south), Wednesday (east and south), Thursday (south and southeast), Friday (southeast and southwest), Saturday (midlands and west coast)

With temperatures expected to reach 27 degrees in some places this Saturday, here's what Met Eireann are expecting around the country over the weekend.

Here's how the next few days are shaping up...

Tuesday morning and afternoon

A cloudy start with a chance of drizzle, mainly in the west and midlands.

Elsewhere, it's set to be dry as the clouds begin to break up as the day develops giving way to the sunshine.

Temperatures will reach highs of 18 to 22 degrees with the best sun arriving in the east and southeast of the country.

Tuesday night

Tonight will be mainly dry with just a little drizzle overnight. However, there will be clear spells also and the lowest temperatures will range between 11 to 14 degrees.

Wednesday morning and afternoon

Cloudy with a little drizzle on the northern and western coasts to start the day.

The best of any brighter or sunnier weather will be in the east and south with highest temperatures 18 to 23 degrees, warmest along the south and east coast.

Wednesday night

Lowest temperatures of 14 or 15 degrees but it will be mainly dry with some cloud and patchy drizzle at times.

Thursday morning and afternoon

The cloudy start will give way to sunshine and heat as the temperatures reach highs of 24 degrees in the southeast of the country. Elsewhere, the mercury will remain at 20 degrees along the west and north coastal counties.

Thursday night

Dry with light winds and temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Friday and beyond

Met Eireann has said that the weekend is shaping up to be very good with things getting "warmer day on day" and that "the dry and sunny weather is expected to stay through the weekend."

Current indications suggest temperatures will rise to 22 to 24 degrees for the most part but the conditions will be warmer higher away from the coasts by the end of the weekend.

Weather expert Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather has forecast temperatures to hit 27 degrees this weekend as Irelad basks in sunshine.

"Latest GFS charts just rolling out and they really are showing a cracker of a weekend. Lots of sunshine and up to 27c! Temperature forecasts for rest of week, warming up nicely and up to 27c for the weekend," he said.
