Met Eireann's stunning 48 hour county-by-county forecast as six areas to see 20C plus

Ireland is set to sizzle in spring sunshine on Saturday as temperatures are set to hit a balmy 20C -hotter than Athens, Vienna and Madrid.

Thousands of sun-worshippers across the country have enjoyed the Mediterranean-like conditions today by spending some leisure time at beaches and parks.

The mercury soared to a 18C in Valentia in Co Kerry, while temperatures climbed to 16C in Shannon, Co Clare and Mount Dillon in Co Roscommon.

The west has fared best during Ireland’s recent sunny spell and the mercury on Saturday will reach higher than Madrid and Athens (both 19C) and Vienna (18C).

Met Eireann forecaster Deirdre Lowe said: “Saturday will be slightly warmer than Sunday and temperatures could get up to 19C or 20C in parts of Clare, Galway, Mayo and in the west.

“But in the east coast it’ll be about 12C or 13C due to the easterly breeze.

“On Sunday temperatures in the east again will be about 12C but they could climb up to about 17C or 18C in parts of the west.

“So west-Connacht and the north-west of Munster are getting the best temperatures over the weekend."

Ulster

Antrim

Saturday will be a dry and bright day with good sunny spells in Antrim. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of the province.

Armagh

Saturday will be a dry and bright day with good sunny spells in Armagh. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of Ulster.

Cavan

Saturday will be a dry and bright day with good sunny spells in Cavan. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of Ulster.

Derry

Saturday will be a dry and bright day with good sunny spells in Derry. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of Ulster.

Donegal

Met Eireann forecast that Saturday will be a pleasant and sunny day in Donegal. Highest temperatures will range 13 to 19 or 20 degrees, warmest again in the west, coolest along southern and eastern coasts due to the light to moderate easterly breezes.

Down

Saturday will be a dry and bright day with good sunny spells in Down. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of Ulster.

Fermanagh

Saturday will be a dry and bright day with good sunny spells in Down. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of Ulster.

Monaghan

In mighty Monaghan, Saturday will be a dry and bright day with good sunny spells . Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of Ulster.

Tyrone

Tryone is forecast to have a dry and bright Saturday with good sunny spells. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius, staying warmest in the west of Ulster.

Clare

The banner county of Clare will have a pleasant and sunny Saturday.The west has fared best during Ireland’s recent sunny spell and the mercury on Saturday will reach higher than Madrid and Athens (both 19C) and Vienna (18C).

Cork

The Rebel county will have a will be a pleasant and sunny Saturday. Highest temperatures will range 13 to 19 or 20 degrees, warmest again in the west, coolest along southern and eastern coasts due to the light to moderate easterly breezes.

Kerry

In the Kingdom, Saturday will be a pleasant and sunny day. Highest temperatures will range 13 to 19 or 20 degrees, warmest again in the west, coolest along southern and eastern coasts due to the light to moderate easterly breezes.

Limerick
