Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast another change in weather with possibility of warnings

The month of October is set to bring more rain, colder temperatures, and possibly a few weather warnings to Ireland.

Conditions began to take a turn this week, and from the current predictions for the month ahead, it’s likely to remain the same.

From Friday 1 October to Thursday 7 October, the weather will be fairly unsettled with low pressure dominating, primarily in the north of Ireland.

Temperatures will generally be below average by half a degree to one degree, ranging from around 7 to 13 degrees celsius.

Rainfall totals for the week will be above average nationwide, especially in far western and northwestern fringes - and weather warnings cannot be ruled out.

The week from Friday, 8 October to Thursday 14 October, there are some indications that things will settle down a bit.

There is a “weak signal” for high pressure to be dominant to the south of Ireland with influence across most of the country, however, lower pressure is signalled to maintain some influence over the far north of Ireland.

Drier than normal conditions are predicted across the south and east, with the west and northwest continuing to experience above-normal rainfall, and temperatures are signalled to be normal for the time of year - 8 to 14 degrees celsius.

Then from Friday 15 to Thursday 21, although indications are subject to change, there is a signal for high pressure to be dominant over central Europe to the southeast of Ireland.

There is no signal for either low pressure or high pressure to be prevalent across Ireland that week.

Rainfall amounts will likely be normal, with temperatures average for the time of year, or slightly above.

Friday 22 to Thursday 28 will bring below-average rainfall for the time of year, but most regions in Ireland will experience scattered downpours and there is no current prediction for low or high pressure dominating.

Temperatures will likely be in the normal range for the time of year.
