"Showery outbreaks of rain will extend over the western half of the country in the morning, heaviest in the northwest, and will extend eastwards into the afternoon.
"Some good sunny spells early on in the east and later across other areas as showers become well scattered along with moderating southwest winds. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19C."
It will remain unsettled throughout the rest of the week, with showers mainly affecting the west and northwest overnight on Thursday with long clear spells elsewhere.
"Friday will be blustery again with fresh southwest winds, strong at times in coastal areas especially in the north and northwest," Met Eireann added.
