Met Eireann's five-day forecast as Ireland set for 'lovely' St Patrick's Day and

While recent conditions have been somewhat mixed, the majority of people will be hoping that this year's St Patrick's Day will be pleasant because after all, it's always better when you're off work and the sun is shining!

Thankfully, a "pleasant" St Patrick's Day is on the cards with dry conditions and spells of sunshine expected.

As for the next few days, here's what's in store...

Sunday evening

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with patches of rain falling early in the night.

Sadly, this rainfall will become more frequent with areas of mist and fog developing in the west overnight too before it extends eastwards.

Monday morning and afternoon

A cloudy day is expected with patches of rain, drizzle and mist developing. Some hill and coastal fog is expected too.

Thankfully, it's set to be mild though with temperatures ranging from 10 to 15 degrees, warmest on the south coast where the best of the sun will be.

Monday night

The cloudy conditions will continue while some rain and drizzle will develop in the northwest early in the night. This should spread southeastwards across the country overnight.

Tuesday morning and afternoon

Yet again, a cloudy start with patchy outbreaks of rain or drizzle is expected in most places. However, if you're living in the northwest, it's set to be dry and sunny.

Thankfully, these conditions will spread through the country during the afternoon with a pleasant day expected.

Tuesday night

The dry and clear conditions will continue but the mercury is set to drop with temperatures falling to between -1 and +3 degrees, so there will be frost in places.

Wednesday morning (St Patrick's Day)

Met Eireann state: "St. Patrick's Day will be dry with good spells of sunshine. Feeling pleasant too in light, variable breezes and afternoon temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees."

Renowned weather expert Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather has also said that this year's St Patrick's Day is shaping up to have some very good weather.

"Pressure and temperature rising over the coming days and St Patrick’s Day is looking lovely with some nice sunshine," he said.

Wednesday night

The temperature will drop as the conditions become cloudier and there's a chance of some patchy drizzle along the west and northwest coasts

Thursday

The clouds will remain on Thursday morning with some patchy drizzle developing in the west, but becoming dry with sunny spells through the afternoon. A cool day is being forecast with the highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.

Friday and the weekend

As the weekend approaches, things are looking good because "a good deal of dry weather is expected for the rest of the week, but staying cool, and quite cloudy at times."
