Met Eireann's exact Irish forecast as Accuweather predicts hot spells and UK is 'set for heatwave'

Met Eireann is predicting an upturn in weather at the start of next week but believes it's too early to say how warm Ireland will get.

Popular weather app Accuweather reckons Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will see temperatures leap into the low twenties across the country.

Meanwhile, the UK is bracing for sweltering 26C heat in southerly parts of England in about 10 days time, with temperatures rising steadily next week.

Andy McGivern of the Met Office said: "Both daytime and nighttime temperatures rise through the next 10 days.

“The overall trend is those temperatures are rising and by the middle of next week we could see mid-20’s or even higher in some places.”

Met Eireann has said that Ireland too will see a jump in temperatures next week, but have yet to indicate how hot it will get.

Monday will see temperatures rise to around 19C in parts but after that, a southerly airflow could take hold.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Warmer conditions are signalled through midweek in a mainly southerly airflow.

"Exact details remain uncertain at this stage, however, with Ireland likely to be somewhere in the transitional zone between higher pressures to the east and south and lower pressures to the west and northwest.

"In this scenario, the greatest chance of rain will be in western parts of the country with drier conditions persisting further east."

As for the coming days it will stay largely dry with temperatures in and around the mid-teens.

At the moment there is no sign of any heavy or persistent rain in the coming week or so.
