Met Eireann pinpoints when hotter weather will arrive in Ireland after dreadful conditions

After a cold and wet weekend for most of the country, Met Eireann has finally shared some better news as warmer weather is on the way.

This week sees temperatures slowly rising and a hopefully forecast for warm, dry conditions for the weekend.

However there will still be some showers no Tuesday, particularly in coastal areas.

The wet conditions won't be totally eliminated on Wednesday either with some "patchy rain" in places. But it will be accompanied by some good sunny spells elsewhere.

And as we approach the weekend, weather experts are currently predicting "a good deal of dry weather" with temperatures set to increase too.

Here’s a look at the forecast for the next five days:

Monday night:

Tonight’s going to be mostly dry with clear spells and scattered showers in the west. It will be cloudy over Munster with light rain towards dawn. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees.

Tuesday:

Tomorrow will be cloudy over Munster with some continuing through much of the day. Good sunny spells elsewhere with a few scattered showers. Mostly dry through the evening with drizzle in coastal areas. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Tuesday night: Mostly dry with just the odd shower. Rain in the southwest throughout the night. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees under long clear spells, but less cool in the southwest under cloudier conditions.

Wednesday: A mainly dry day with just patchy rain in the southwest and northwest. Some good sunny spells too in the morning and evening. Light breezes. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Wednesday night: Further light rain moving in later in the night for the southwest. Holding dry elsewhere with good clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees under the clearer skies, but milder under cloud cover.

Thursday: Some uncertainty in the forecast, but current indications suggest that it will be a dry and bright start for much of Ulster and Leinster. However, rain and cloud in Connacht and Munster will gradually extend over the country through the day. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees in moderate winds.

Thursday night: Rain moving northeastwards followed by dry and clear conditions. Chilly with lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees.

Friday: Rain will clear from much of the country during the morning. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with light breezes.

Friday night: Becoming mostly dry overnight with lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.

Weekend: A good deal of dry weather for the weekend. Temperatures will continue to increase into the high teens.
