A weather warning has been issued for eight counties ahead of a horrid period of rain on Monday and Tuesday.
All of Connacht as well as Donegal, Kerry and Clare have been issued with the status yellow rainfall warning from Met Eireann.
The warning begins at 2pm on Monday and will be in place until 2pm on Tuesday.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Heavy rain later Monday, Monday night and Tuesday may cause some river and localised flooding."
Poor weather is expected countrywide over the next few days as colder air moves in.
A Met Eireann forecaster added: "Monday will start off mainly dry with some bright spells in the east. Cloud will increase and rain will develop in the west and northwest through the morning. It will spread across much of Connacht and Ulster and become persistent and heavy at times.
"Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with freshening southerly winds, strong on coasts.
"On Monday night, persistent or heavy rain will affect much of Ulster, Connacht and west Munster. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.
"Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with persistent or heavy rain over the western half of the country and a risk of localised flooding. There'll be some showers further east.
"The rain in the west will extend eastwards through the afternoon and evening with clear spells and a few showers following on Tuesday night. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with fresh southerly winds, becoming westerly and easing as rain clears. The night will be cold with lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees."
