Met Eireann has issued a thunderstorm warning for nine counties with "poor conditions" set to hamper drivers.
The status yellow alert will impact Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath.
The national forecaster says that scattered thunderstorms will hit on Monday afternoon and evening with localised downpours leading to poor driving conditions.

The warning is in effect until 9pm on Monday night.
As for the national outlook, the rest of the country is also set to experience scattered showers and sunny spells on Monday.
Some showers will be heavy or thundery, most likely in the midlands during the afternoon before they move into the north and northwest by evening.
It will be a humid day, with highest temperatures of 16 to 20C in mostly moderate southerly winds.
Showers will clear the north early on Monday night, becoming largely dry with clear spells.
However, further showery rain will spread from the southwest overnight, turning heavy at times.
Becoming blustery as the rain moves in with moderate to fresh and gusty southeasterly winds developing, increasing strong along Atlantic coasts. Mild with lowest temperatures of 10 to 12C.
Here is Met Eireann's forecast for the week ahead:
Tuesday: Cloudy in eastern areas with some patches of rain, a largely dry and sunny start further west. Persistent rain will spread over the eastern half of the country early tomorrow afternoon, turning heavy in places, before clearing northwards through the evening. Drier further west, with scattered showers and some sunny spells however thundery downpours are again possible locally. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17C.
Tuesday night will bring showers or longer spells of rain and it will be breezy or windy, especially near the west coast where the winds will be very blustery. They will be coming from a mild southerly direction with lowest temperatures of 7 to 10C. Turning drier towards morning.
Wednesday: A largely dry start with sunny spells and just a few showers. However, rain will spread northwards across the country through the afternoon and evening with some heavy downpours possible. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18C in moderate to fresh and gusty south or southeasterly winds, increasing strong at times near coasts.
Wednesday night: Rain will ease away on Wednesday night, with clear spells developing and some mist or fog patches forming as the winds ease. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 8C.
Thursday: A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, with showers most frequent and occasionally heavy over the western half of the country. However, there will be a good deal of dry weather overall. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18C.
At the moment Friday looks like it will be very showery or wet with some blustery or strong winds locally and temperatures around the mid-teens.
Sunshine and scattered showers look like following on Saturday in a fresh westerly breeze and temperatures of 14 to 17C, with drier and a little warmer weather in store for Sunday next.
