Met Eireann issues updated snow weather warning for 16 counties as conditions deteriorate

Met Eireann has issued an updated Status Yellow snow and ice weather warning for 16 counties.

Take note if you're living in Connacht, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Clare or Tipperary because the conditions are set to deteriorate.

In terms of what's expected, a slow-moving band of sleet and snow will continue to give some further snow accumulations in these counties.

That particular warning is in place from 5pm on Thursday morning until 8am on Friday.

Aside from the snow and rain, a separate wind warning is also in place for Munster, Leinster, and Connacht.

The status yellow wind warning states that: " Strong to gale force southeast winds in conjunction with rain, sleet and snow will lead to poor visibility and hazardous conditions."

This particular warning is in place until 8am tomorow.

As for tonight's general forecast, tonight will see further sleet, snowfall and icy stretches.

However, those living on the south coast will experience some rain rather than snow.

Stay warm because the temperatures are set to range between -2 and +1 degrees Celsius.

Friday morning will see lingering wintry falls in Leinster but there's set to be outbreaks of rain across southern counties, persisting for much of the day.

Elsewhere, Friday afternoon is set to be dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells.

Sadly, the rain will arrive later in the evening, mainly falling in the west and southwest.

On Friday night, the sleet and snow is expected to return in Connacht, Ulster and parts of north and east Leinster.

There are two other weather warnings in place for Saturday too.

A status yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Cork, Kerry and Waterford, while a snow and ice warning has been issued for Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.
