Met Eireann issues status yellow weather warnings for five counties with poor conditions expected

Met Eireann has issued two separate status yellow warnings for rainfall and wind with Cork, Waterford, Donegal, Galway and Mayo all impacted.

The first status yellow rainfall warning is in place for Cork and Waterford.

Residents in those two counties can expect to see, "heavy rainfall overnight (Friday night) that will bring 20mm to 30mm of rainfall over a short period of time which may cause localised flooding."

This warning comes into place from 9pm on Friday and it will last until 8am on Saturday.

Elsewhere, a status yellow wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Mayo.

Those three counties on the west coast will see, "east to southeast winds reaching mean speeds 50-65 km/hr gusts to 90 km/hr, mainly in coastal areas."

That particular warning is valid from midnight and it will last until 8am on Saturday morning.

Elsewhere, tonight will see rain move northeastwards across the country, becoming heavy at times.

There's also a risk of localised flooding along the south coast.

Saturday morning will see the rain and strong winds in the north gradually clear away, with sunny spells and scattered showers following.

A milder day than recently is expected with the highest temperatures ranging between 14 to 18 degrees.

Saturday night will remain breezy with scattered showers affecting the south and west with dry spells developing elsewhere.

Sunday morning will be blustery with widespread showers turning heavy at times, mainly over the western half of the country, with the risk of hail.

Sunday night will see the showers easing off with some clear spells developing.
