Met Eireann has issued a fresh weather warning for 14 counties with awful conditions forecast on Tuesday.
The status yellow rain warning begins at midnight on Monday and will last until 24 hours later at midnight Tuesday.
The national forecaster has put Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford as well as every county in Munster and Connacht under the warning.
An alert on Met Eireann's website says: "Heavy rain on Monday night and Tuesday coupled with strong southerly winds. Some river and localised surface flooding possible. Rainfall totals of 30 to 50mm, higher in mountainous regions."
And while other areas may not have been issued with any warnings just yet, they won't avoid the torrential rain.
A Met Eireann forecaster added: "On Monday night, it will turn increasingly windy with south to southeast gales developing on coasts.
"Rain will develop in the southwest and west early in the night, before extending nationwide after midnight. Heavy falls, especially in the southwest with a risk of localised flooding. Minimum temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees early on but turning milder later.
"It looks set to be a wet and very windy day on Tuesday with further spells of heavy rain pushing northwards over the country accompanied by strong to gale force southerly winds.
"A continued risk of localised flooding. Mild despite the inclement weather conditions with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees. Rain will tend to linger into Tuesday night, especially across the east and south with some drier periods in the west and north. Staying windy and mild with lows of 7 to 10 degrees."
