A Status Yellow wind warning for seven counties has been issued by Met Eireann for Sunday.
The national forecaster had already placed Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Kerry on alert as gusts could reach speeds of 110km/h.
The warning, in effect from 3pm until 11pm on Sunday, has since been extended to counties Leitrim and Sligo.
Met Eireann says southerly winds veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h, with gusts of 90 to 110km/h with stronger winds expected along coasts and on higher ground.
Some fallen trees and power outages are also possible.
Meanwhile, a separate Status Yellow wind warning was issued for Clare on Saturday afternoon, with the alert for Kerry revised.
The warning for these two counties will be in effect from 3pm until 8pm on Sunday.

Met Eireann says: "Southerly winds veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 100km/h. Some fallen trees and power outages are possible."
Before then, Saturday will see rain becoming lighter and patchier through the afternoon with drier and clearer conditions developing in the northwest in the evening.
It will also be noticeably milder than recently with highest temperatures of 10 to 13C.
A forecaster said: "Most of the rain will clear southeastwards early leaving a mostly dry night with just a few passing showers in the northwest and some lingering rain in southern areas.
"The best of the clear spells will be over the northern half of the country with cloud thickening from the southwest with patchy rain extending over much of the country by morning.
"Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8C over the northern half of the country, milder further south with temperatures not dropping below 8 to 10C. Light to moderate south to southwest winds will allow mist and hill fog to form.
"Sunday will be windy day with southerly winds increasing strong and gusty, reaching gale force along Atlantic coasts.
"Largely cloudy as well with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, heaviest and most persistent in the west. Mild with highest temperatures of 10 to 13C.
It will become dry on Sunday night with a mix of cloud and clear spells though some passing showers will affect parts of the northwest.
Winds will ease early in the night as well, becoming light southwesterly or variable with some mist patches forming with lowest temperatures of 0 to 4C.
