Met Eireann issue urgent thunderstorm warning for Dublin and 10 other counties with possible flooding

Met Eireann has issued a thunderstorm warning for the capital and 10 other counties this afternoon.

The status yellow warning is in place in Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford until 9pm tonight.

The forecaster said there is a moderate chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening with a possibility of hail. They also warned of possible spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

Showers are expected to clear early in Dublin tonight, with conditions becoming mainly dry with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees, in light westerly winds.

Tomorrow will see more showers and sunny spells with some showers turning heavy but not as heavy as in the previous days. The highest temperatures will be around 17 to 18 degrees.
