Met Eireann issue Status Yellow weather warning for Dublin as 18 Irish counties to be hit by sudden downturn

Met Eireann have issued a status yellow weather warning for Dublin as heavy rain is expected to hit.

Spot flooding "is likely" according to the forecaster who say it will spread across the capital from tomorrow evening.

A spokesperson said 25mm to 40mm will hit in a "relatively short time".

They said: "Heavy Rain will spread from the south Thursday evening and night. Accumulations of 25 to 40mm will occur over a relatively short time period. Spot flooding is likely."

The warning comes just a week after the capital saw severe flooding leaving certain roads impassable.

The warning is in place from Thursday 08 August 2019 19:00 to Friday 09 August 2019 07:00.

Last Tuesday saw havoc for motorists as rain pelted down with floods reported in Churchtown, Terenure, Rathmines, Grafton St, IFSC, and College Green.

Road conditions were hazardous while a lightning strike led to huge delays for Irish Rail.

The Luas also saw major disruptions.
