Met Eireann issue 'hazardous' weather warning as huge nasty change hits Ireland

Met Eireann has issued a fresh weather warning that will come as a relief to many across the country.

A rain and thunderstorm warning is now in place for the country and is valid from 1:13 Friday, July until 8 pm tonight.

The counties at risk include Wicklow, Kildare, Laois, Offaly, Tipperary, Clare, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

Met Eireann say: "Thunderstorms in places this afternoon and evening with lightning, hail and heavy downpours resulting in localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions."

The forecast for Dublin is:

"Very warm and dry today with sunny spells, which will be hazy at times. Top temperatures of 23 to 25 Celsius in light to moderate east to northeast breezes, but slightly cooler near coasts due to the onshore breeze."

Tonight:

"Warm, dry and humid overnight with clear spells. Lows of 15 to 17 Celsius for most in light northeast breezes. Dipping to 13 or 14 Celsius locally. Isolated mist patches will form inland. "

Saturday:

"A dry day on Saturday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. A cooler and fresher day than of late with top temperatures of 19 to 21 Celsius in moderate east to northeast winds."
