Met Eireann issue Halloween weather warning for 'disruption' as heavy rain to cause floods

Met Éireann have issued a Halloween weather warning - with rain to cause havoc across the island for the festivities.

Sunday saw a few showers of precipitation fall, particularly across the capital with thousands of Dublin marathon runners getting a bit of a soaking.

And that wet weather won't fade away for another day or two.

In fact, the forecaster has put a status yellow weather warning for every county, which reads: "heavy rain on Monday (Halloween) will lead to localised flooding and some disruption."

The Met Office for the UK has also issued a rain warning for the six counties of Northern Ireland for similar hours.

The warning for Ireland kicks in at 6am on Monday and lasts until midnight on Tuesday, with the Northern Ireland warning is valid from 7am until 10pm.

The full forecast for Monday reads: "The morning will be wet over the western half of the country with rain turning heavy at times. A brighter start further east with scattered showers.

"The rain will become more widespread through the morning and afternoon, heavy in places with localised flooding. Drier, brighter weather will develop in western areas tomorrow evening but rain will persist elsewhere into the night. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15C with fresh southerly winds easing through the day.

"Rain in eastern counties will clear from most places into the Irish Sea on Monday night followed by dry conditions for a time. However, further showery rain will move in over western parts by morning. It will be colder than recent nights, as temperatures drop to between 4 and 8C , and there will be light to moderate southerly winds. Some mist and fog patches in parts too."
