Met Eireann issue four day weather alert as stormy conditions to smash Ireland

Met Eireann has issued a weather advisory for the entire country with stormy conditions set to barrel in for Halloween.

With two separate weather warnings already in place, the national forecaster is now alerting the public to a 'vigorous' weather system making its way towards Ireland.

It states that: "Very unsettled weather will occur over the Halloween weekend as a series of vigorous Atlantic weather systems pass close to Ireland. Spells of heavy rain will lead to surface and river flooding.

"Very windy/stormy at times with some severe and damaging gusts possible. Some coastal flooding possible also due to the combination of low pressure, high tides and onshore winds. Very high seas."

The advisory was issued at 10am on Thursday, 29 October and it's in place from 9pm on Friday, 30 October until 6pm on Monday, November 2nd.

Aside from this, the public is also being advised to check their local country warnings on a day-to-day basis.

With regards to the aforementioned weather warnings, a Status Yellow rainfall warning is in place for Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

Residents in those 10 counties can expect to see heavy and persistent rainfall overnight from Wednesday. Sadly, these wet conditions are expected to last until Friday morning where they will lead to some flooding and disruption.

Elsewhere, a Status Yellow wind warning is in place for Galway and Mayo with strong southwest winds set to arrive on Thursday. For those living out west, expect to see mean speeds of 55 to 65km/h and gusts to 100km/h.

In terms of the overall forecast, it's set to be a wet and dreary Halloween weekend with unsettled and stormy conditions throughout.
