Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast record hottest day of year with heatwave warning

Met Eireann is forecasting a heatwave which will last into the start of next week.

The glorious but sticky and humid weather, that's going to leave some tanned and others burned, will even hit highs of 25C at one stage.

In fact, Friday is the only day in the next six days where the dial will drop below 20C with temperatures in the late teens.

But Sunday will more than make up for it with a sunburst of 25C in the hottest day of the year.

Here's what Met Eireann are forecasting from now to Tuesday:

Thursday: "Today will be warm and dry in Dublin with sunny intervals. Highest temperatures of 21 or 22 degrees with moderate to fresh southwest breezes."

Tonight: "It will be mild and mainly dry. Patchy rain and drizzle will spread eastwards towards morning. Some mist and fog also. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate south to southwest breezes."

Tomorrow: "Friday will start off mostly cloudy and damp with some patchy drizzle and mist. It will become mainly dry during the day and will brighten up with sunny spells developing. It will be a bit cooler with highest temperatures of 17 or 18 degrees, with moderate westerly breezes."

Saturday: "It will be dry in most areas with some good sunny spells in Leinster and Munster, it will be cloudier in Ulster and Connacht with a little drizzle in Ulster for a time. Highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees warmest in Muster and Leinster with light breezes. Saturday night will be mainly dry. Some drizzle will develop in the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees."

Sunday: "It will be warm and dry in Leinster, Munster and east Ulster with good sunny spells and with highest temperatures here of 21 to 25 degrees. It will be cooler and cloudier in Connacht and west Ulster with some patchy rain or drizzle in coastal counties. Highest temperatures here of 17 to 19 degrees with light to moderate southwest to west breezes. Sunday night will be mild with some patchy rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees."

Monday: "It will be largely dry with sunny spells. It won't be as warm and will be fresher with highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees and light northwest breezes."

Tuesday: "It will be warm and mainly dry with the best of the sunshine over the eastern half of the country. It wil be cloudier further west with perhaps some drizzle on the west coast. Highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees, warmest in the midlands with moderate southerly breezes."
