Met Eireann Ireland weather horror forecast after 'cyclonic storm' hell warning

Met Eireann is forecasting a big change after a cyclonic storm from the North Atlantic brought hellish conditions this week.

The start of next week will see a sunburst again and a return to relatively normal summer weather with temperatures hitting highs of 16C at times.

Even tomorrow will see a glimpse of sunshine with Saturday starting off dry and sunny at first before being swamped by cloud and scattered showers.

Friday will see the last remnants of the weather brought by the 'cyclonic extratropical' beast with cloud and showery outbreaks of rain heavy in the morning.

Europe Weather had warned that an intense North Atlantic storm would bring unsettled weather with severe windstorms and major waves to Ireland on Thursday.

The weather experts said: "It’s been a while since there was a proper North Atlantic storm on its way towards western Europe.

"This week, a quite impressive development of an extratropical low is expected on Wednesday, drifting into Ireland through Thursday.

"It will bring a rather severe windstorm and major waves along the coastal areas to the south."

Here's what's in store for the next six days according to Met Eireann:

Today: "Cloudy with showery outbreaks of rain, which will be heavy at times this morning. It will gradually become drier through the day with just a few showers but staying cloudy for most of the day. Highest temperatures of 11 or 12 degrees Celsius, in mostly moderate or fresh north to northwest winds."

Tonight: "Scattered showers will become isolated tonight with long clear spells will develop allowing temperatures to dip to between 2 to 5 degrees Celsius in moderating northwest breezes."

Tomorrow: "A dry and sunny start on Saturday. Cloudy will bubble up through the afternoon with scattered showers developing. Another relatively cool day with highs of just 10 or 11 degrees Celsius, in mostly moderate westerly breezes."

Sunday: A band of rain will sweep in across the country during the morning, clearing into the Irish Sea into the afternoon. Whilst it will brighten up, scattered heavy showers will follow bringing the risk of spot flooding, lightning and hail. Staying cool with highs of only 10 to 13 degrees Celsius. Breezy at first in fresh southerly winds, veering westerly and moderating.

Monday: "Another mixed day of sunny spells and scattered shower, some heavy through the afternoon. Highs of 11 to 13 degrees in moderate north to northwest winds. Mainly dry overnight with showers becoming confined to western and northern shores. Lows of 4 to 7 degrees in light breezes."

Tuesday: "Sunny spells and scattered showers, although the showers will be lighter than previous days, Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees Celsius in moderate, occasionally fresh northwest breezes. Dry overnight with long clear spell and lows of 4 to 7 degrees in light northwest breezes."

Wednesday: "Current indications are for a lot of dry weather although there will be a lot of cloud around with a few light showers across Ulster and north Leinster. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees in light northwest breezes."
