Met Eireann Ireland weather heatwave forecast as country to sizzle in scorching temperatures on hottest day of heat spell

Ireland will bask in amazing summer weather as today is set to be the hottest day of the current heat spell.

Temperatures will hit a sweltering 26C with spells of sunshine predicted.

Tonight will be dry with clear spells, although mist and fog will develop and may become dense in places.

Lowest temperatures will be between 9C and 15C.

Tomorrow will be another dry and sunny day with temperatures of 19C to 23C but a light easterly breeze will keep maximum temperatures around 17C or 18C in the east and southeast.

Tomorrow night will see clear spells and patches of mist and fog with lowest temperatures of 8C to 14C.

Saturday

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Another dry day with long spells of sunshine, hazy at times in the north and east. Highest temperatures of 20C to 23C generally, but a few degrees cooler along eastern and northern coasts due to a light east to northeast or variable breeze.

"It will stay dry on Saturday night and most areas will have clear spells but it will become cloudier in northern areas. Lowest temperatures of 9C to 14C.

Sunday

"Sunday will be a cloudier day but will stay dry. Maximum temperatures will range between 17C in the north to 23C in the south, where the best of the sunshine will be, and there will be light northerly breezes.

"Sunday night will be dry with clear spells but again some patchy mist and fog will form. Lowest temperatures of 10C to 14C.

Monday

"Monday will be dry but rather cloudy and temperatures will reach 16C to 22C, northeast to southwest. Light east to northeast breezes.

Tuesday

"A mix of cloud and sunny spells and staying dry for the most part, although there will be a chance of an isolated light shower. Highest temperatures of 16C to 19C with light northeasterly winds.

Wednesday

"Dry with sunny spells and highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees, in light north to northeast winds.

Further Outlook

"Staying mostly dry with sunny spells and daytime maxima generally in the high teens."
