Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast with heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail to hammer Dublin

A dreadful Sunday is in store as Dublin will be battered by heavy showers, thunderstorms, and hail.

The morning will start off with some heavy rain in places which will be followed by sunny spells and scattered showers in the afternoon.

Some showers will turn heavy bringing with them thunderstorms and hail.

It'll be a relatively cold day for May with the highest temperatures of 12 or 13 degrees.

Tonight will see further scattered thundery showers of rain or hail tonight. with temperatures ranging between 1C to 5C.

Tomorrow will bring some bright spells but further showers or longer spells of rain will develop later.

Temperatures will be from 11C to 13C.

Here is what the national outlook says:

Summary: A Met Eireann forecaster said: "After a cool start turning milder but staying changeable overall.

Monday

"On Monday night showers will gradually clear and most places will become dry with clear spells. Some showers will still affect coastal parts of the north and west though through the night. Lowest temperatures of 5C to 7C as northwesterly winds ease mostly moderate.

Tuesday

"Most areas will see a good deal of dry and bright weather on Tuesday, although a few showers will develop also especially over Ulster. However, it will be a much cloudier day in the far southwest with outbreaks of rain at times, clearing later in the day.

"Highest temperatures of 12C to 15C. Moderate northwest winds in most places, but the winds light variable in southwestern coastal parts.

Tuesday

"Tuesday night will be mostly dry with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3C to 6C with some mist and fog patches developing in light northwesterly breezes.

Wednesday

"Wednesday will be mainly dry with sunny spells in light northwest or variable breezes. It will be warmer with highest temperatures of 13C to 17C.

Thursday

"Thursday will be dry with sunny spells in the north and east but it will be cloudier elsewhere with outbreaks of rain likely. Highest temperatures will range 13C to 17C in light to moderate southeasterly breezes.

The rain will spread to remaining areas on Thursday night followed by brighter showery conditions on Friday."
