Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast mystery 'airflow' to hit as huge Bank Holiday change coming

Met Eireann is warning that a mystery airflow is set to hit the country bringing a huge change ahead of the Bank Holiday.

The northwesterly airflow will blast over the weekend persisting throughout until the middle of the week.

The cool showery change will see day time showers over the weekend with frost returning in the night time also.

So we hate to break it to you but Sat, Sun and Mon, your Bank Holiday, is set to be very wet and windy.

And Friday won't be much better with sunny spells but scattered showers increasing in intensity through the late morning.

Temperatures of 10C will drop to -1C overnight with good clear spells and a touch of frost and fog patches.

Here's how the Bank Holiday is looking according to Met Eireann:

Tomorrow: "Sunny spells early on Saturday will giving way to patchy cloud and scattered showers once again as the day progresses. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in light variable breezes.

Saturday night: "Mostly dry and clear with just some passing cloud. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees in light northerly or variable breezes with a patchy frost and mist in places."

Sunday: Hazy sunshine in the morning however cloud will increasing through the day. Some patchy drizzle may develop especially over higher ground in Ulster. Highest temperatures again of 9 to 13 degrees coolest in the northwest in light westerly or variable breezes falling calm at times.

Sunday night: "Rain will spread from the west early in the night extending to all areas as winds back southerly and increase moderate to fresh and gusty, turning strong to near gale along exposed coasts. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees, coldest in the Ulster."

Bank Holiday Monday: "A wet and blustery start with widespread rain and fresh to strong southwesterly winds reaching near gale force along southern coasts. The rain will clear to showers from the west during the afternoon and evening as strong and gusty winds veer to the northwest with gales for a time along western coasts. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees."

Monday night: "Scattered blustery showers in fresh to strong and gusty northwest veering northerly winds early in the night. Become mostly dry and clear later in the night as northerly winds moderate. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees."
