Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast expert warns to 'enjoy last few days' before dramatic 'unsettled' change
Ireland is set to bask in a few days of sunshine and dry weather before unsettled conditions will hit.
The country will be hit with heavy downpours and powerful gusts as the weather will take a dramatic turn.
Weather Alerts Ireland said: "Next week is looking unsettled with strong winds and heavy rain...so enjoy these few days of dry weather!"
It will be cloudy and mostly dry this morning which will continue throughout the day with the occasional drizzle and a few bright spells.
Highest temperatures of 15 or 16 degrees in a moderate southwest breeze, fresher at times in the north.
Similar conditions are expected tonight with light rain overnight. Rain will clear before dawn becoming clear.
It will be cold with temperatures dropping to as low as 3 to 5 degrees.
Tomorrow will start off cool and bright. It will be another dry day with plenty of sunshine but it might be cloudier later in the afternoon.
Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees with a light easterly breeze veering southeast.
Here is what the national outlook says for the rest of the week:
"Many places dry with scattered outbreaks of drizzle or light rain and light southeast winds.
"Turning misty in places with some fog likely. More persistent rain and fresher winds will develop in the southwest at around dawn.
"Cold in Ulster initially, with lowest temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees, but milder air to the south with lows of 7 to 10 degrees will extend northwards overnight.
"A wet day with a spell of rain spreading from the southwest through the morning, reaching northeastern counties in the afternoon. Breezy too, with moderate southeast winds, fresh at times. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.
"Becoming drier and clearer in many places early in the night as rain clears northeastwards with just some patches of light rain or drizzle lingering. Winds easing to a light to moderate southwest breeze allowing some pockets of mist or fog to form. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.
"A mild day with a mix of cloud and sunny spells,. Cloudier conditions will bring some patchy drizzle, but there will be a good deal of dry weather. Light to moderate southwest winds will back southerly. Highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.
"Turning wet and breezy with rain spreading from the southwest to all areas, reaching the northeast towards dawn. Southerly winds will increase fresh to strong. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.
"Breezy and mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Mild for the time of year with highest temperatures of 15 to 17 or 18 degrees in moderate to fresh winds.
"Tuesday will continue mild and will likely be breezy at times with further rainfall. Continuing unsettled into midweek."
