Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast day of rain with mild temperatures

Ireland will be hit by rain showers today but temperatures are set to remain mild.

There will be highs of 14 to 17 degrees, in moderate southerly winds.

Met Eireann's forecast reads: "A dry start in the east, but cloud and patchy rain and drizzle in western parts this morning will quickly push eastwards reaching all areas by early afternoon.

"The rain will be heavy at times this afternoon through Connacht and Ulster, but lighter and patchier in Munster and Leinster. Becoming mostly dry in all areas by evening as the rain clears northwards."

Tonight will be "misty" but will remain mild.

The forecast says: "A misty night, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The rain and drizzle most persistent in the west and south, remaining mostly dry further east.

" Very mild with temperatures not falling below 12 to 15 degrees, in moderate to fresh southerly winds."
