Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast big change after serious warning as horrid system moves in

Met Eireann have forecast a big change after a serious warning yesterday with a surprising weather system moving in.

On Monday, 13 counties were given a status yellow thunderstorm warning as horrid conditions hit.

The warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Tipperary lasted from 2pm and until 8pm but the bad weather doesn't stop there.

Met Eireann have warned that conditions will be unseasonably wet, thundery and miserable this week as a low pressure system hits Ireland.

It will be generally dry at first today with sunny spells but that will be short lived with hail and spot flooding warned by the forecaster.

Here's how the next few days are looking according to Met Eireann:

Today: Starting dry in many places today with sunny spells. However, some scattered showers will develop through the day, with the risk of local hail and spot flooding. Similar temperatures to recent days with afternoon highs ranging 11 to 15 degrees Celsius (mildest further north of the province), in a mostly moderate southeast breeze.

Tonight: "Scattered showers will continue tonight, heaviest in the south, but with long dry spells in many areas too. Chilly with lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees Celsius generally. Mist will thicken into fog in parts later, all in near calm."

Tomorrow: "Mist and fog will clear Wednesday morning. Like recent days, scattered heavy, possibly thundery showers will develop with the risk of local hail and spot flooding. Some sunny spells too. Highest temperatures will range 11 to 15 degrees Celsius in near calm, with best values across the midlands."

Outlook: "Low pressure will prevail for the rest of the week bringing further scattered heavy thundery showers. Temperatures will remain a little on the cool side generally. Sunny spells too though with mostly light breezes."
