Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast with huge storm warned by experts

Met Eireann has said that it is currently tracking depression-like conditions this week as experts warn of possible storms.

A depression is an area of low pressure coming after air rises which helps form clouds and rainfall.

Met Eireann warn that while there will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers on Wednesday, "there is some uncertainty regarding the track of a depression on Thursday, which will bring a spell of wet and windy weather".

The bad news doesn't stop there however with two other weather experts forecasting midweek storms.

Ireland Weather Online experts said: "Fancy a midweek storm anyone? Still a good deal of uncertainty on this low pressure system forecast for Thursday.

"The ECMWF evening model shows the chance of this storm hitting Ireland but the GFS and ICON EU showing this system."

Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly added: "Hmm weather models uncertain for Thursday but risk of a storm on latest ECMWF. One to watch though."

Here's what Met Eireann are predicting for this week:

Today: "Dry this morning with sunny spells. Scattered showers will develop through the afternoon, but there will be plenty of sunshine too. Highest temperatures of 13 to 14 degrees in light to moderate westerly breeze."

Tonight: "Dry overnight with long clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 4 or 5 degrees with light southwest breezes."

Tomorrow: "Dry with sunny spells in the morning. Scattered showers will develop through the afternoon, turning heavy later in the day with a risk of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees with a light to moderate westerly breeze."

Wednesday: "Outbreaks of rain or drizzle over the northern half of the country for much of the day. Scattered showers early in the day further south, becoming largely dry during the afternoon with sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees with light or moderate westerly winds."

Thursday and Friday: "High uncertainty regarding the forecast for the end of the week with an area of low pressure in our vicinity. Current indications suggest a spell of wet and windy weather with persistent rain or heavy showers at times. Daytime temperatures in the early to mid-teens."
