Met Eireann Ireland weather as 'more snow' confirmed over two day wintry blast in Dublin

Met Eireann is forecasting that Dublin will be hit by more snow over the weekend as a two-day wintry blast hits the country.

Sunday will see sleet and snow on high ground in the capital as colder weather creeps in with temperatures dropping to 1C.

Rain will continue to become patchier through the evening and night with falls of sleet or snow pouring down in light to moderate easterly breezes.

Monday then will see a "further band of rain moving in from the Atlantic, with wintry falls developing".

Turning our attention to today and it will be mostly cloudy this morning with patches of drizzle, mist and fog.

Sunny intervals will develop later but outbreaks of rain will take over as temperatures remain around the 9-10C mark.

There will be further outbreaks of showery rain tonight but will become mostly dry by morning with scattered showers and lowest temperatures of 6-7C.

Here's how things are looking for tomorrow according to Met Eireann:

Friday: "A cloudy start tomorrow morning, with scattered showers, becoming more isolated through the morning with some sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees. Westerly winds will ease light to moderate before backing southeasterly and freshening as persistent rain arrives later in the evening."

Friday night: "Rain in the southwest will extend over much of the country though some northern areas holding mostly dry. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees generally, coolest in north, but a degree or two warmer along southern coasts where the rain will be heaviest with a risk of spot flooding. Easterly winds will be fresh to strong and gusty."
