Met Eireann Ireland weather as 'falls of snow' confirmed in big hitting two day alert

Met Eireann has confirmed that falls of snow will hit on Sunday and Monday across Ireland as a two day changes hits.

Starting with today though and Friday will be cloudy with showers developing later as brighter spells develop.

Saturday will be cold and mainly dry with clear spells and sharp frost according to the national forecaster.

They warn: "Temperatures will fall to between -1 and +2 degrees. Rain and sleet will develop in overnight."

And looking to next week, it's rain, rain, rain as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be subject to "longer spells of rain", we didn't think they could get any longer in Ireland.

Here's how the weekend is looking and where that snow will be falling according to Met Eireann:

Sunday: "Rain and sleet will spread eastwards across the country, falling as snow in places, especially over the northern half of the country. The rain and sleet will continue for the rest of the day and throughout Sunday night, with more snow possible. Highest daytime temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees for most areas and reaching 6 or 7 with moderate to fresh easterly winds. They will fall to between 0 and 6 degrees on Sunday night."

Monday: "It will be cold and mostly cloudy with further falls of rain and sleet, with snow possible in areas. Highest afternoon temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees, coldest in Ulster with moderate southeast winds, becoming southerly and freshening. A band of rain will spread northeastwards throughout the evening and night, and will clear overnight with showers following. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with moderate to fresh southeast winds."
