Met Eireann Ireland weather as 'disrupting storm' to hit after 'Arctic Circle' change in UK

Met Eireann has issued an updated forecast following worrying news across the water.

Senior Operational Meteorologists with UK Met Office have confirmed that a disrupting storm will hit in the next few days after an 'Arctic Circle' change.

They said: "A heat low pressure system (pictured L in the picture below) has formed over Spain generating thundery showers.

It is extending and disrupting, creating a separate cut off low pressure.

"A combination of energy from both will bring thunderstorms to the UK in the next few days."

They added: "You might think we're running an April fool two months late but as this graphic shows, it's coming from the Arctic Circle."

Here's how things are looking until the end of the week according to Met Eireann.

Overview: "Showers and spells of rain to end this week, with the driest spells over the eastern half of the country. Gradually turning drier through the weekend."

Today: "Dry and bright to start today but it will turn cloudier through the morning with showery outbreaks of rain spreading from the south in the afternoon. The rain will turn heavy and possibly thundery at times before clearing to the north later this evening. Highest temperatures of 17 or 18 degrees in a light to moderate easterly breeze."

Tonight: "Staying cloudy mainly dry tonight, with occasional clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze."

Tomorrow: "Generally dry tomorrow with the chance of just an isolated shower. After a rather cloudy start, it will become bright as sunny spells develop through the morning. Highest temperatures of 17 or 18 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds."

Friday: "Largely dry to start with sunny spells and well scattered showers. A spell of rain will push into Munster and Connacht from the Atlantic in the afternoon. However, it will stay largely dry with sunny spells over Ulster and Leinster. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds."
