Met Eireann Ireland heatwave weather forecast as country to sizzle in scorching temperatures and glorious sunshine

Ireland will bask in glorious sunshine as summer weather has finally returned.

Met Eireann has predicted a scorcher of a week as the mercury is set to hit a sweltering 25C.

Today will be dry and largely sunny with temperatures of 20C to 23C.

Similar conditions will continue into the night with temperatures ranging around 11C and 12C.

Tomorrow will be another warm and sunny day as the highest temperatures will be around 20C to 23C.

More dry and clear weather expected tomorrow night with temperatures of 11C or 12C.

Speaking about the rest of the week, a Met Eireann forecaster said: "Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be dry, warm and sunny days with light winds.

"Temperatures will reach 22C to 25C most days, widely across the country on Wednesday.

"On Thursday the highest temperatures will be in the southwest as the winds take on the northerly aspect with a little more cloud in the northeast keeping temperatures at about 20C there.

"On Friday the higher temperatures will be away from east facing coasts as the winds go easterly again, temperatures along the east coast no lower than 20C.

"Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night will all be dry and clear with patches of fog forming in the light variable winds, clearing in the early in the mornings. Lowest temperatures each night of around 11C or 12C.

"Early indications suggest that the settled spell will continue into the weekend, with mostly dry weather though there may be showers at times. Temperatures staying in the twenties for most."
