Everyone dreams of a white Christmas and if the latest weather forecast is anything to go by, some of us will be lucky to see some snow on December 25.
Unfortunately for those in the capital, it looks set to be a rather dreary and wet Christmas Day, according to Met Eireann.
While there is still some uncertainty over the weather for the Christmas weekend, current forecasts indicate rain will spread across the country from the southwest on Christmas Eve.
Christmas Day looks set to be overcast with patchy rain and temperatures ranging from 7-10 degrees.
However, those in the north of the country could be set for a white Christmas.
There is a risk of snow for counties in Ulster as colder air looks set to push down from the north.
For today and tomorrow, the weather looks set to be dull and cloudy. The Met Eireann forecast is as follows:
TODAY
"Another dull and cloudy day today. Staying largely dry but there is the potential for isolated drizzle patches. Highest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees in moderate southeasterly winds."
TONIGHT
"Staying dry but cloudy to start tonight. Clear spells will develop for a time overnight but cloud will thicken again towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh southeast winds."
WEDNESDAY
"A cloudy day tomorrow with outbreaks of rain developing through the morning. Rain will clear to the east later in the afternoon, though occasional patches of light rain and drizzle will linger. Feeling slightly milder with highest temperatures of 9 or 10 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southeast winds."
