Met Eireann give blunt Dublin weather forecast while warning sent to asthma sufferers as Ireland gets strange influx of Saharan dust

Dublin is set for more miserable weather as Met Eireann have given a blunt forecast for the capital.

It doesn't look like the rain is going anywhere anytime soon as long shower spells will develop this morning and will "extent to all areas" by the afternoon.

Some parts or Ireland will even see hail and thunder as last weekend's mini heatwave has long left.

Dublin has worst air quality in Ireland, according to Environmental Protection Agency

Met Eireann said: "Mainly dry early this morning with rain in the NW clearing.

"Showers/longer spells of rain develop in the East & South during the morning, extending to all areas by early afternoon, heaviest in the West & South with some hail & a few possibly thundery.

"Highs of 11 to 15 degrees.

Friday will see more of the same with some stormy weather also pushing in from the west of the island.

Sadly, the current forecast also says the weekend will be much the same.

They said: "Outbreaks of rain at first followed by a spell of wet and windy weather pushing in from the Atlantic. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees. Wet and windy weather will continue on Friday night with rain turning possibly heavy and a risk of very strong and gusty winds. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.

"Current indications are for heavy rain to clear later in the day to scattered showers with sunny spells. It will turn cooler with highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees, as strong and gusty northwesterly winds moderate.

"A further spell of wet and windy weather is set to sweep across the country on Sunday. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees."

Asthma and the Saharan dust

Asthma sufferers have been warned about Saharan dust, which is expected to spread across Ireland this week.

Many people across the country have already noticed the "mysterious" red dust across their cars, with more expected to arrive over the coming days.

The red dust in question is from the Saraha Desert, and is said to be "uncommon" in this part of Europe.

According to the EPA, poor air quality is predicted to hit Ireland as a result of the red dust.
