The weather predicted for this Bank Holiday weekend is a far cry from the blistering sun we saw earlier this month.
The best of the weather will see a break from the rain showers, with very little sun coming our way over the next few days.
Sunday and Monday look likely to be the only points where a small number of counties will experience the warmth of the sun, as the rest of us plan for a weekend indoors.
Heavy showers are forecast for the entire country today, some of which may turn thundery at times.
The Irish forecaster says occasional sunny spells will develop in the afternoon and temperatures will remain between 16-20C.
As for Saturday, a good deal of dry weather is expected, however, there will continue to be showers scattered throughout the day.
It’ll be largely cloudy too but some sunny spells will still occur, particularly in the north of the country - while temperatures will be around average for the time of year.
On Sunday, those in the southwest and west are in for some lovely sunshine, while the rest of the country will experience a good deal of cloud with well-scattered showers, mainly affecting the eastern coast and parts of the Atlantic coasts.
Sunnier spells will develop through the day, with highest temperature of 15 to 19 degrees.
It’ll be coolest in the north and warmest in the south with light to moderate north to northwest winds.
Northern, eastern, and midland counties will see some more sunshine and clouds on Bank Holiday Monday, alongside some scattered light rain.
Showers are expected to merge to a longer spell of rain which will affect some areas for a time, currently most likely in parts of Connacht and Munster.
Elsewhere there will be sunny spells in the morning before clouds emerge in the afternoon but good evening sunshine will break through in all areas.
Highest temperature will reach 19 degrees in light northerly or variable breezes.
