Met Eireann forecasts a big change as sleet is due to fall today

Met Eireann has predicted the cold weather is due to ease off a little with the mercury set to rise on Monday.

However, sleet and sub zero temperatures are set to hit Dublin before then.

There will be inclement weather with sleet in the early morning until it is set to brighten up in the afternoon.

Met Eireann's forecast for Monday reads: "It will remain cold on Sunday with highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. Dull and damp in the morning with scattered outbreaks of rain, and possible sleet in the early morning. However, it will brighten up by afternoon with sunny spells developing."

Tonight will be quite cold again with temperatures set to hit as low as -2 degrees.

The forecast reads: "Mainly dry at first tonight with some mist and fog patches. Becoming cloudy overnight with patchy light rain later. Lowest temperatures of -2 to 0 degrees Celsius. Some frost and ice too."

Monday is set to be much warmer during the day with temperatures predicted to hit highs of 11 degrees.

The forecast reads: "Temperatures will return to more near normal tomorrow Monday with further patchy outbreaks of rain, mainly occurring early on. Generally cloudy to begin with some sunny spells later. Highest temperatures will range 9 to 11 degrees Celsius, in mostly moderate westerly breezes."
