Met Eireann forecasts 11 counties to hit 22C on hottest day of the year so far

With more clarity provided on the path out of lockdown and an improvement in weather conditions, this week has been a positive one for the national psyche.

However, things will be much better tomorrow as the temperatures reach 22 degrees for the 11 counties in Munster and Connacht, as per Met Eireann.

For those living in Leinster and Ulster, things are also going to be very warm with the mercury reaching 21 degrees too.

However, the people of Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon. Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford are set to be a little bit warmer tomorrow.

On that note, here's what's expected on Sunday in...

Munster

It's going to be dry in most areas with plenty of sunshine, although a few isolated showers may develop in the afternoon and evening, most likely in the northern parts of the province.

If you're living near the coast, some sea fog may approach on southern and southwest coasts.

Make sure you've got suncream because the highest temperatures will range between 18 and 22 degrees, highest in the north of the province, but a little lower in some coastal parts.

Connacht

As for those on the west coast, Sunday is also going to be a dry day in most areas with plenty of sunshine, though a few isolated showers may develop in the afternoon and evening.

The mercury will also hit highs between 18 to 22 degrees, but a little lower in some coastal parts.

Ulster

Sunday will see a dry start in the six counties with lots of sunshine, although a few isolated showers may develop in the afternoon and evening.

While not as high as Munster and Connacht, it's still set to be a sweltering day with temperatures generally ranging between 17 to 21 degrees, but a little lower in some coastal parts also.

Leinster

As for Leinster, Sunday will also be dry with lots of good sunshine throughout. However, like the rest of Ireland, a few rain showers may develop in the afternoon and evening.

The highest temperatures will float between 18 to 21 degrees, but once again, it should be a little lower in some coastal parts.

What's expected tonight?

The highest temperatures this afternoon ranged between 16 to 21 degrees and tonight will be dry and clear.

There will be patches of mist or fog developing due to the slack winds though. A mild evening is expected with temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees on the horizon.
