Met Eireann’s latest forecast signals some rain-soaked days this week.
The start of August has been a mixed bag with rain, thunder, spot flooding and some sunshine.
Met Eireann earlier issued a status Yellow alert for Donegal, north Leitrim and Sligo from midnight on Sunday until midnight on Monday.
It reads: "Further showers or longer spells of rain will maintain the risk of localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions."
Forecasters at the State weather service have warned that the country should brace for more of the same.
It has identified localised flooding for areas in the in the midlands and east over the coming days.
But there remains hope that conditions will improve from the middle of next week thanks to an “easterly or north-easterly influence on our weather – which brings us slightly warmer than normal conditions and light winds.”
It will be drier on Tuesday with highs of 21C, although a band of rain could bring some showers on Wednesday morning, but it is expected to clear by the evening.
Until then, it is mostly umbrella weather.

The forecaster said in its latest bulletin for Monday: “Showers will be fairly widespread and many will be heavy.
“There’ll be some thundery downpours too, with some localised flooding.
“Heavy thundery showers will continue in the midlands and east.
“Tuesday will be a largely dry day with a good deal of cloud about but there will be isolated patchy light rain or drizzle at times.
“On Wednesday, the persistent and locally heavy band of rain will gradually track eastwards through the morning, while sunny spells and isolated light showers will follow.

“Current indications for Thursday suggest there will be some patchy rain and drizzle in the morning.
“For Friday and the weekend, the current indications suggest that it will continue unsettled with showers and longer spells of rain."
